1. How many days off will employees have on the occasion of April 30 and May 1, 2025?
The Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs issued Notice 6150/TB-BLDTBXH, which stipulates as follows:
“3. Civil servants and public employees are allowed to switch working days from Friday, May 2, 2025 to Saturday, April 26, 2025. Thus, on the occasion of the Victory Day holiday of April 30 and International Labor Day of May 1, 2025, civil servants and public employees will have 5 consecutive days off from Wednesday, April 30, 2025 to Sunday, May 4, 2025 (compensating on Saturday, April 26, 2025).
7. For employees not subject to the provisions of Clause 1 of this Notice, the employer decides to choose the option of taking the Victory Day holiday of April 30 and International Labor Day of May 1, 2025 as follows:
- For the National Day holiday: Tuesday, September 2, 2025 and choose 1 of 2 days: Monday, September 1, 2025 or Wednesday, September 3, 2025.
- Notify employees of the National Day holidays in 2025 at least 30 days before implementation.
- If the weekly day off coincides with the public holidays prescribed in Clause 1, Article 112 of the Labor Code, employees will be entitled to take a compensatory weekly day off on the next working day as prescribed in Clause 3, Article 111 of the Labor Code.
- Encourage employers to apply the Lunar New Year holiday, National Day holiday, April 30 Victory Day holiday and May 1 International Labor Day holiday in 2025 for employees as prescribed for civil servants and public employees.”
In addition, pursuant to Clause 1, Article 112 of the Labor Code 2019 on public holidays, employees are entitled to take a day off and receive full pay on Victory Day (April 30) and International Labor Day (May 1).
Thus, according to the issued announcement, on the occasion of April 30 and May 1, 2025, civil servants and public employees will have a holiday schedule of 5 consecutive days from Wednesday, April 30, 2025 to Sunday, May 4, 2025 (compensating on Saturday, April 26, 2025).
For employees who are not cadres, civil servants and public employees, employees will have 2 days off, however, the Ministry of Labor - Invalids and Social Affairs encourages employers to apply the April 30 and May 1 holiday schedule according to the holiday schedule of civil servants and public employees, which is 5 days.
2. How is salary calculated for employees who work on April 30 and May 1?
Based on Article 98 of the 2019 Labor Code, there are regulations on overtime and night work wages as follows:
“1. Employees who work overtime are paid according to the unit price of salary or actual salary paid for the work being done as follows:

c) On holidays, New Year's Day, and paid leave days, at least 300% excluding holiday, New Year's Day, and paid leave days for employees receiving daily wages.

Thus, employees who work on April 30 and May 1 will receive higher salaries than on normal working days, specifically as follows:
- Working during the day will receive at least 400% of salary.
- Working at night will receive at least 490% of salary.
